McAfee LinuxShield Focuses on Novell
SUSE Linux and Netware Users Covered

“As more and more malware is created to run on multiple platforms, it is important for customers to know they can turn to a single vendor for complete, multi-platform protection,” said Steve Crutchfield, director of product marketing at McAfee Inc., as McAfee today announced the availability of new versions of McAfee LinuxShield and NetShield antivirus products.

The new functionality includes antivirus protection for the latest version of SUSE Linux and Novell NetWare - ensuring that Novell users are safe from the latest threats and vulnerabilities.

With the latest release of Linux kernel products from Novell such as Open Enterprise Server (OES) and Novell Linux Small Business Suite, McAfee is extending its comprehensive support to these platforms. "From small businesses running NLSBS to the largest enterprises running OES," a company announcement noted, McAfee now offers support for the latest Linux kernel, version 2.6, and support for the Novell NetWare 6.5, support pack 3.

“We continue to demonstrate that we are committed to providing malware protection on other operating systems and for customers that have deployed a heterogeneous IT environment," Crutchfield added.

“We applaud McAfee for today’s announcement,” said a Novell spokesperson. “McAfee is a company known for endorsing well-supported platforms, offering their customers superior security and risk management solutions.  Novell is pleased that McAfee’s LinuxShield and NetShield security products support Novell’s platform, as this will ultimately enable enhanced security protection for customers worldwide.”
