Is It Time for SRM?
New Report Says Security Risk Management is Here to Stay

Skybox Security, Inc. has said that "leading market analysts" have confirmed the need for IT Security Risk Management, or IT SRM, solutions. Gartner Group is among the companies  that will release a report on the subject, and others are soon to follow, the Skybox reports.

The company says this opinion comes after studying 30 SRM deployments, and that companies "are turning to IT SRM solutions as the missing piece required to implement proactive security best practices and to take a more disciplined approach to maximize and measure security ROI."

The company defines IT SRM "as the complete process of understanding threats, prioritizing vulnerabilities and understanding the impact of proposed changes or patches on the target systems in order to limit damage from potential attacks. IT SRM solutions integrate multiple information sources and technologies required to achieve measurable, repeatable and predictable risk management programs. "
