Patch Tuesday Fixes 5 Critical, 3 Important Flaws in Microsoft Software
Windows, Internet Explorer, Word, and Messenger Affected

Even users who have already installed Microsoft's Service Pack 2 cannot rest easy, as Microsoft yesterday released five security bulletins to fix "critical" vulnerabilities - i.e., flaws that could allow an attacker to take complete control of your computer system - and three other patches to fix "important" MS software security flaws.

The day, dubbed "Patch Tuesday" by security professionals and commentators, brought word of how Windows suffers from a TCP/IP problem and how an Internet Explorer problem is also "critical." the three other "critical" flaws comprised problems in Exchange Server, MSN Messenger, and Microsoft Word.

Patches for all five vulnerabilities were made available.
