VERITAS Extends Storage And Security to Sun Solaris 10 OS
Software Delivers Unique Capabilities On Solaris

"VERITAS is committed to delivering the leading heterogeneous storage management and high availability platform to the large enterprise," said Robert Soderbery, vice president, Storage and Server Management Group, VERITAS Software, as VERITAS  extended its storage management and high availability offerings to include full support of Sun's Solaris 10 Operating System (OS).

VERITAS is delivering on its commitment to support new releases of operating systems within 90 days of general availability with the release of the 4.1 versions of VERITAS Storage Foundation, VERITAS Cluster Server and VERITAS Volume Replicator software, Soderbery added.

"Sun customers can now upgrade to the Solaris 10 OS with confidence that VERITAS will deliver the same industry leading storage management and high availability technology it does today for Solaris 8 and 9," he said, "while adding new capabilities specifically designed to take advantage of the latest innovations included in the Solaris 10 OS."

"VERITAS software has already helped The Philadelphia Stock Exchange increase storage utilization by more than 25 percent," said Bill Morgan, CIO, Philadelphia Stock Exchange. "The new features in VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.1 will help us drive further cost efficiencies and simplify the management of our tiered storage model. Furthermore, because VERITAS software supports Solaris 10, we have seen tremendous operating system performance gains that will allow us to better serve our customers."

"By taking the most-advanced OS on the planet and making it free of charge and open source, Sun has seen huge demand for Solaris 10," said Tom Goguen, vice president, Operating Platforms Group, Sun. "Now Sun and VERITAS customers can take advantage of the latest IT solutions in their data centers."

VERITAS Storage Foundation software now supports all the latest features and enhancements included in Solaris 10, such as Solaris Containers, DTrace and new security functionality with Process Rights Management and Solaris Secure Execution. Additionally, VERITAS Storage Foundation software now includes a robust application program interface (API) and complete software development kit (SDK). These additions make it easier for companies to standardize on a common storage management platform across heterogeneous storage and server environments. In addition, partners and third-party developers can now write new applications to fully utilize VERITAS' storage management framework.

"Today's enhancements underscore our decade long commitment to the Solaris platform with a set of new capabilities now available on Solaris 10," said Soderbery.
