webMethods Fabric Gains eBusinessReady Certification
Shows eBusiness Interoperability

webMethods has successfully completed the EDIINT AS3 (Applicability Statement 3) certification for business integration product suite webMethods Fabric. webMethods continue to establish its leadership in the adoption of industry standards, gaining this certification during the first-ever round of interoperability testing for EDIINT AS3. With this certification, webMethods extends its ability to provide customers with the most comprehensive and secure means to confidently exchange business documents with trading partners and customers.

Certification was administered using eBusinessReady, an industry-neutral software compliance and interoperability testing program, under joint partnership of the Uniform Code Council (UCC) and Drummond Group. Gaining eBusinessReady certification indicates that webMethods Fabric enables interoperability across vertical industry and horizontal business-to-business supply chain and distribution channels. webMethods demonstrated its capabilities for interoperability with other eBusiness solutions through the EDIINT AS3 standard, which enables companies to securely conduct EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) over the Internet.

"Standards such as AS3, AS2 and AS1 are separated by their underlying transport protocol, but each has its own merits and uses in today's marketplace," said Rik Drummond, CEO for Drummond. "AS3 can provide digital security and receipt validation by utilizing file transfer protocol, and AS3 interoperability testing will have a positive impact as it expands the scope of Internet security standards available to supply chains."

With this eBusinessReady certification, webMethods Fabric will provide companies in varied industries with the ability to use file transfer protocol (FTP) securely, and in a standards complaint fashion. This will allow companies to meet specific customer and industry compliance requirements for secure document transfer over the Internet, such as Wal-Mart's requirement for the consumer goods and services industry to work with UCC-sponsored technology vendors for EDIINT. webMethods' support for the EDIINT AS1, AS2 and AS3 standards allows companies to securely communicate EDI, XML or customer-defined payloads over the Internet, enhancing operational effectiveness and streamlining communication with customers and suppliers.

"Interoperability among software providers is an integral step towards reducing the barriers for efficient trading partner integration," said Kristin Weller Muhlner, executive vice president, product development, webMethods. "webMethods has maintained a leadership role in the adoption of industry standards throughout its history, and we are committed to delivering a highly secure and robust product suite that meets the growing need for certified business communications."

Yeah right, what leadership position in adopting standards? webMethods was not on any standards body till the middle of last year. This article is just self-serving vendor hype.
