E-Commerce Options Grow With ShopSite 7.1

E-Commerce vendor ShopSite has released ShopSite 7.1. The Orem, Utah-based company is adding XML support, digital hard copy gift certificates, and two new payment gateways, YourPay and WorldPay, along with security initiatives. This gives its small and medium-sized business clients - says ShopSite - more autonomy, flexibility, and extends their e-commerce presence.

David Hills, ShopSite's CEO, emphasized the company's commitment to creating user-friendly software. "The new features have been designed to meet ShopSite's strict ease-of-use requirements," he said. "Perhaps best of all, there is no charge to get the new features when a merchant upgrades from 7.0 to 7.1"

ShopSite has thrived by allowing customers, unfamiliar with online programming, to manage their Web services, Hills explains. "No programming skills are required to use ShopSite, and it's free of any HTML-coding that developers often employ when creating commercial Web services."

With added support for digital and physical gift certificates, vendors - says Hill - have another revenue source they can include in their Web services:

"Merchants acquire even more agility when changing online content, thanks to XML support for page and product uploads and downloads. A business owner can now update any item that makes up the fabric of their online service. For example, inventory and pricing can be changed by applications that are located outside of the immediate programming window, where such changes are typically done."

Version 7.1 is equipped with new security protocols to support the new features. Fraud protection has been designed to detect programs which attempt to hack into systems using hit-or-miss methods - Such as programs that endlessly generate random combinations of numbers, with the hopes that one will match-up with customers' credit cards the vendor has on file.

ShopSite has added support for two new payment gateways, adding to a growing number of such options whose development is being spurred by public access to Web-based services. WorldPay is designed to support international customers; YourPay, on the other hand, is for ShopSite's national clients.

These payment methods, said Drew Freeman, executive vice president of Chase Merchant Services, "give merchants a secure and easy yet powerful solution to their e-commerce needs." John Young, ShopSite's vice president of sales, added: "WorldPay is an important solution for our international customers. We are very pleased to have this leading international gateway integrated into ShopSite."
