Newsflash: Jeffrey M. Nick, former IBM Fellow, to be New CTO of EMC Corp

Jeffrey M. Nick is replacing Mark Lewis as CTO of EMC Corp., nine months after Lewis left that office to oversee EMC's software operations.

Nick, who also will serve as a senior vice president, is a former executive from rival IBM Corp. He will oversees the storage technology that EMC develops for its customers, including airlines and banks.

Nick left IBM in June after 24 years, having Nick attained the coveted title of IBM Fellow and filed more than 80 inventions - resulting in more than 50 U.S. patents in computer systems technology, EMC said. He will report to Howard Elias, an EMC executive vice president with responsibilities for technology and corporate marketing, the company said.
