VERITAS Extends Linux Solutions to Intel Itanium 2-based Platforms

VERITAS Software Corporation has extended support of its storage management and clustering products to the Intel Itanium 2 processor-based platform on Red Hat Linux 3.0. With the availability of VERITAS Foundation Suite 2.2 and VERITAS Cluster Server 2.2 on Itanium architecture for Linux, VERITAS is increasing its commitment to making Linux enterprise-ready and extending its broad Linux platform support to both IA-32 and Itanium-based architectures. VERITAS OpForce software was the first VERITAS product to support Itanium architecture on Linux.

With a building block approach toward enabling utility computing, VERITAS delivers integrated software solutions that are designed to align IT with business needs. By extending enterprise-class file system, volume management, and clustering solutions to Itanium-based platforms on Linux, customers can embrace the cost advantages of Intel and Linux and enhance the manageability of their Itanium-based environments. According to market intelligence firm IDC, the market for Itanium-based servers shipped with Linux is forecasted to grow to $2 billion by 2008.
