Sun Cluster Open Storage Program Expands Customer Choice
Sun Cluster Open Storage Program Expands Customer Choice

Sun Microsystems has launched the Sun Cluster Open Storage Program, offering customers an expanded choice of third-party storage devices that support Sun's Sun Cluster solution. As part of the program, Sun is working closely with storage vendors, including EMC, IBM and Network Appliance, to enable the self certification of their respective storage arrays. The Program ensures the same qualification rigor that Sun uses to validate Sun Cluster 3 with Sun StorEdge. This enables greater customer storage choice while ensuring the same high-quality, cluster configurations that have been the trademark of the Sun qualification process.

Jointly supported by Sun and third-party storage vendors through TSANet, these Sun Cluster configurations offer seamless support, ensuring the highest levels of availability for mission-critical applications. The announcement builds on Sun's current enterprise-class storage offerings and demonstrates the company's commitment to working with new partners to deliver high availability solutions.

Sun Cluster 3 is integrated with the Solaris Operating System, providing customers with ease of management, and expanded application and agent support. Through the Open Storage Program, Sun is providing qualified resellers and OEMs with opportunity to offer customers Sun Cluster configurations utilizing certified third-party storage arrays, enabling new growth opportunities for the channel. Additionally, Sun Cluster is a key component of the Sun Java Enterprise System, an open standards-based software system, providing customers with a fully integrated high availability solution delivered on a predictable cycle to help ensure increased service levels and reduced costs and complexity.

Interested third-party storage vendors should visit www.sun.com/clusters/osp/ for more information.
