New Enterprise Server Delivers Security and Access Controls

Today's IT administrators have many challenges from protecting the corporate network from intruders to the proliferation of workers utilizing WiFi hotspots and wireless devices like laptops and PDAs to access the corporate LAN or WAN. The new Enterprise Server Edition of Columbitech Wireless Suite provides IT administrators with the necessary tools to better manage user access and gain extended device control.

With Columbitech's Enterprise Server, IT administrators can monitor and inventory the wireless devices before they access the corporate network without compromising security or adding risk to the corporate server. If a wireless device is lacking the most recent security applications or patches, the device will then be directed to a quarantine server where the user can download the necessary files. Once the device has been updated and meets corporate security policies, the user regains access to the network.

With enterprises that have numerous users as well as temporary wireless visitor access to corporate data requires IT to administer individual access policies to establish restricted areas on the network. Columbitech's Enterprise Server supports differentiation of user access rights based on wireless user roles.

Another feature is support for trusted zones, which enables administrators to allow non-encrypted data traffic through networks that are considered safe like the office LAN. This feature allows the enterprises to optimize their networks and eliminate unnecessary data overhead.
