Access J2EE Core Patterns and Map SDAs with Logidex 2.0

(May 13, 2003) - Logidex 2.0, the industry's only model-based software development asset SDA mapping and discovery engine, is now available from LogicLibrary. For the first time, Logidex 2.0 features seamless integration with IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD). Further additions in Logidex 2.0 include a software development kit (SDK) that enables automated asset loading, improved enterprise-scale performance capabilities, availability of Sun Microsystems' Core J2EE Patterns, and enhanced reporting features.

Logidex maps relationships between SDAs and a company's technical and business models. Developers, architects, and business analysts can search a created SDA library using capabilities ranging from keyword searches to model-based searches. Active Design, a process unique to Logidex, allows business analysts to create a persistent model-based search driven by a business process model. Developers can add technical criteria to this specification, allowing for joint definition of requirements. When a search is run, SDAs are identified and scored according to their "fit" with the specified business and technical requirements.

New features in Logidex 2.0 include:

  • Integration with WebSphere Application Developer (WSAD)- developers can now access all Logidex features directly from within IBM's development environment.
  • AnySource SDK- enables an automated process for loading and updating SDAs to the Logidex 2.0 SDA library, via SOAP-based APIs. The AnySource SDK provides a faster and easier way to capture and publish from various asset sources.
  • New reporting capability- Logidex users can take advantage of template reports or create custom reports, using Crystal Reports or other report generators, on asset, project, user, and other valuable data elements stored in the Logidex libraries.
  • Core J2EE Patterns- Users can download and import the patterns from the Logidex Service Center (LSC) into their Logidex library and map their own SDAs to them. Also, Logidex customers can access the Core Patterns in read-only form from the Logidex Asset Center (LAC).
  • Performance and scalability enhancements- Logidex 2.0 has been architected to proactively meet the rigorous, large-scale requirements of multinational enterprises. All data stores in Logidex 2.0 are managed within a relational database, improving both performance and system backup/recovery characteristics. Additionally, the J2EE application architecture has been optimized to improve scalability and integrity.
