webMethod's JBoss Integration to Cut Costs and Increase Flexibility
webMethod's JBoss Integration to Cut Costs and Increase Flexibility

(April 28, 2003) -To help businesses take advantage of the functionality provided by integrating the JBoss open source application server with the webMethods Integration Platform, webMethods, Inc. has launched the JBoss integration customer preview program. As part of the program, the new capability will be rolled out to a select group of customers.

webMethods has enhanced the webMethods Integration Platform so that the JBoss application server can be integrated directly into the integration server. According to webMethods, the combination provides numerous benefits for customers. Customers will be able to reduce licensing and operating costs by no longer needing to purchase an application server and by managing their integration and development environments using the same management framework. Customers' business processes will be better automated due to the incorporation of legacy and custom Java applications in the same process, and they will experience higher availability and reliability of their integration and development environments due to fewer moving parts.

Additional benefits include the fact that customer resources already trained in J2EE and EJB development can be utilized when developing business logic-intensive elements for their integration solutions. Also, existing EJBs can be utilized as part of the overall integration network implementation.

Hi.

In my opinion the webMethods Integration Platform is superior to BEA's integration capabilities. Adding JBOSS to webMethods makes their integration platform more complete and even more superior.

Regards,

Wayne

Another article on integration servers converging with J2EE servers. BEA has already done this.
