New Java Master Promotes Scalability, Runs on Any OS

(December 20, 2002) -TIDAL Software, Inc., has begun shipping its new Java master for TIDAL Enterprise Scheduler. It features enhanced scalability, reliability, uptime, and security. The new master has been redesigned in Java and J2SE and can be ported to any Java supported operating platform. The first release has been tested to support up to 200,000 jobs daily and an unlimited number of agents on a single processor machine. It has been developed for multiple processor servers and is expected to scale to even more jobs. The master also serves as a framework to support future Web services and integrate with an unlimited number of applications, making it easier to coordinate jobs and dependencies from different application environments.

Built in Java, the new master provides greater portability, integration and event automation capabilities. In 2003, TIDAL will introduce the first Web services adapter for job scheduling. This new adapter will easily integrate with ERP and other IT applications by sending and receiving job scheduling data as a Web service. In addition, TIDAL Web services adapter will be able to schedule and manage Web services functions within applications. Utilizing standard Web protocols, such as XML, SOAP and UDDI, which are neutral to any operating environment in an IP network, the Web services adapter will make it easier to coordinate all tasks and data associated with fulfilling a business process, regardless of application or operating environment.
