JBlend Chosen for New Sharp Camera Phone, Alcatel Mobile Phones

(November 18, 2002) - Aplix Corporation's JBlend platform has begun shipping in the European market on a mobile phone for the first time, incorporated in the recently-announced Sharp Corporation GX10 GSM/GPRS camera phone. This model is one of the first mobile phones being sold by Vodafone across Europe for its new Vodafone live! offering. JBlend has also recently been selected as the preferred Java solution for mobile phones from Alcatel.

Sharp's new GX10 mobile phone and the Alcatel handsets will incorporate JBlend technology, the J2ME Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC), MIDP, and Aplix's KFTT acceleration technology.

Aplix's JBlend technology has enjoyed unparalleled success in the Japanese market after being incorporated into 33 wireless handset models from 11 different manufacturers to date. As of the end of September this year, JBlend technology has shipped in more than 12 million units of mobile phones and home electronics devices, including mini disc camcorders, digital photo printers, digital image albums, and High Definition Televisions (HDTV).
