Dynamic Universal Querying in New CocoBase Release Saves Time, Effort for Java Developers

(November 15, 2002) - Developers working in Java can experience an amazing increase in efficiency with the newly released CocoBase Enterprise O/R version 4.5, says THOUGHT Inc., promising that customers can cut the cost of development, deployment, and maintenance of the database access up to 85%. The improvement is credited to the product's Dynamic Universal Querying, which gives developers unlimited querying to the application without the work of pre-coded / pre-compiled SQL statements. Dynamic Universal Querying is a powerful and easy-to-use querying system for issuing meaningful queries with EJB-QL across the J2EE, J2SE, and J2ME platforms.

Developers can use EJB-QL to express their queries, a standards-based object-oriented syntax as defined in the EJB 2.0 specification. These queries can be used with CMP Entity Beans, BMP Entity Beans, Session Beans, Dynamic Transparent Persistence, JSPs/Servlets, and stand-alone Java persistence. With the multitude of Object Query Languages that generally only work with one component architecture, THOUGHT Inc. decided to choose a single query syntax, EJB-QL, that was powerful enough to issue meaningful queries across all of Java, yet simple enough that most developers could easily learn to use it.
