Updated Borland Java Solutions: Better Testing Tools, Support for Standards

(November 12, 2002) - The widely used Java development environment Borland JBuilder has now been updated. The new version, JBuilder 8, includes support for Jakarta Struts, an open-source Web development framework. It has improved EJB unit testing, and is designed to make development tasks such as code management and debugging faster and easier. JBuilder 8 is more tightly integrated with Borland TeamSource and Rational ClearCase, Concurrent Version System (CVS), and can debug non-Java code such as OracleJSP. It can also modify Java classes on the fly while debugging.

JBuilder 8 supports new standards, including J2SE v1.4, JSPs, servlets, Web services, and XML, with the goal of interoperability for all major platforms. Its enhanced import capabilities allow projects originally built using other development environments to leverage the benefits of JBuilder. This provides customers with the ability to leverage modern development environments and previous investments in software projects.

JBuilder 8 is tightly integrated with the Optimizeit performance assurance solution for Java, which also has been improved. Optimizeit Suite 5 now features the Automatic Memory Leak Detector, to help solve code performance problems faster. It also provides support for the latest application servers including the IBM AIX and Hewlett-Packard HP-UX operating systems.

The Borland Java development solution, including JBuilder, Optimizeit Suite, JDataStore, and TeamSource DSP has gained broad support from industry leaders including BEA Systems, Inc., IBM, Intel, Mercury Interactive Corp., Nokia, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Inc., and Sybase.

The software will be available later this month. For more information, visit www.borland.com.
