SEAGULL Breaks Legacy Evolution Boundaries with Addition of Java Connector

(October 15, 2002) - A new strategic connector from SEAGULL promises to help client-side developers mix and match components when building new composite applications regardless of the back-end environment. The Java Connector extends the access and integration capabilities of TransidiomTM to include Java applications.

With the Java Connector, Transidiom works as a universal interface layer that enables developers to access mainframe and iSeries application functions, as well as databases using JDBC, invoke Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs) and J2EE services, and access any Java-compliant application through Java APIs.

While mainframe COBOL development continues, it is deployed mainly for legacy application enhancement and integration with newly developed, primarily Java, applications. Java is increasingly pervasive as a strategic enterprise computing platform, and the ability to provide an efficient, rapid and flexible means of integrating or combining legacy and Java applications is becoming more critical. Transidiom exposes consistent, industry standard interfaces regardless of whether the back-end application is mainframe, iSeries or Java. This reduces the complexity of integration and accelerates the migration of legacy assets to IT architectures on the platform of choice.
