Mobile Accessories Bring Pet Tracking to Your Smartphone
Now You Can Track Your Petsfrom the Office

This has proved to be extremely effective when it comes to locating lost or stolen tablets, computers, and smartphones. But what happens when our pets go missing? Luckily, a few companies have been stepping forward to create solutions for our furry friends. Here are a few ways you can track and check in on your pet from your smartphone.

Tagg

A pet accessory company called Tagg specializes in small GPS trackers that attach to your animal's collar. This lightweight gadget allows you to know exactly where your pet is at all times. You don't have to worry about the elements destroying your Tagg tracker, because it is water resistant and is able to hold up through rough play. You can configure the system to alert you once your pet has left a particular location zone, such as your neighborhood, so that you can be aware of unusual movement. This data can prove to be instrumental in the event of theft, allowing you to contact the authorities with live location data.

Tagg is also unique because it doubles as an activity monitor for your pet. Once you clip the device onto a collar, it begins to log whether your animal is resting, walking, or running. This can be particularly useful if you're keeping an eye on your pet's weight or trying to get them more physically active. This can be a very useful accessory when you are trying to get outside and run with your dog.

Tractive

This is another GPS collar attachment that can be used to keep a remote eye on your pet. Unlike the Tagg system, the Tractive GPS tracker does not also monitor your pet's activity. However, they do have separate accessories for pet owners who want to track activity or even train their animals with slight collar vibrations. The Tractive app allows you to view your pet's location live on a map. It also doubles as a medical portfolio, storing a wide variety of vet info regarding your pet. From the Tractive app, you can view pet medical information, upcoming vet reminders, animal types, number of pets, and a social network of other Tractive users you know. Tractive focuses on the location and wellness of your pet, so that you don't have to worry about them getting lost or missing upcoming vet appointments.

Gibi

Gibi is a third GPS collar attachment that can be used to keep your pet safe. You can designate virtual fences so that you receive alerts once your pets have gone out of a certain range. These can be adjusted quickly through the app, so that you can have different fence profiles for visits to the park or other peoples' homes. The unique sharing feature on this app lets you quickly send your pet's location to a friend or family member with a Google Maps pin. This can be extremely useful if you are at work, and you notice that your pet has escaped the house. Simply share your pet's location via text message, and your friend or family member can go rescue your pet!

Losing track of your pet can be an extremely terrifying experience. You can ease your fears by attaching a GPS tracker to your animal's collar. Now if your pet escapes your home or runs away during a walk, you can quickly consult a mobile map to find out their exact location.
