SoftLayer Receives New Product Innovation of the Year Award
Frost & Sullivan Recognizes CloudLayer As Leader in Cloud Infrastructure Solutions

“We are very proud of this recognition. Innovation is central to everything we do,” said Nathan Day, Chief Technology Officer for SoftLayer. “From inception, we’ve approached CloudLayer in a different fashion than competing cloud service providers. CloudLayer is an extension of the SoftLayer platform, not a service line of its own. And because it leverages our fully-automated infrastructure, not only does CloudLayer provide capabilities that other clouds can’t, it has greater potential for future innovation.”

SoftLayer Technologies on Tuesday received the 2010 North American New Product Innovation of the Year Award in the field of Cloud Infrastructure Solutions from Frost and Sullivan.

This prestigious award was given for SoftLayer’s CloudLayer line of cloud computing, storage, and content delivery network services. Multiple criteria were used to evaluate CloudLayer’s performance against key competitors, including: Innovative Element of the Product, Leading Edge Technologies in Product, Value Added Features/Benefits, Increased Customer ROI, and Customer Acquisition/Penetration Potential.

The award cited CloudLayer’s core capabilities—including full integration with SoftLayer dedicated servers to create hybrid computing environments and the “Build Your Own Cloud” offering—as unique advantages that help enterprises overcome many of the scalability challenges and fixed service package restrictions of other cloud solutions in the market.
