i-Technology News IHP Microelectronics Chooses Perforce SCM to Manage Hardware and Software Development
Plays Major Role in Enhancing the Competitiveness of European Microelectronics
Nov. 8, 2005 07:00 PM
Perforce Software has announced that IHP - Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics - has selected Perforce, the Fast Software Configuration Management (SCM) system, to manage the development of its hardware and software solutions for wireless communications, networking and multimedia applications. IHP selected Perforce's SCM system for its combination of high performance and competitive pricing. It is expected that Perforce will increase productivity among IHP's hardware and software developers.
While IHP was impressed with Perforce's high performance and competitive price, Perforce's multi-platform coverage was also an important factor when IHP was comparing different SCM solutions. Additional advantages in Perforce's favour included its near zero administration overhead, ease-of-use and functionality.
IHP is a research institute that partners with industry, universities and other research organisations around the world. It offers customers and partners access to its powerful 0.25 µm SiGe:C BiCMOS technologies. The technologies are suited to applications in the higher GHz bands (e.g. for wireless, broadband, radar).
IHP has deployed Perforce on Windows and Solaris/NFS platforms to manage VHDL, chip layout, and firmware development. The company has integrated Perforce with Synopsys and Cadence tools, and with Microsoft Office, using the Perforce Plug-in for Microsoft Office.
