WebLogic News Desk Oracle Fusion Middleware Delivers World Record Single-Node Result
With SPECjAppServer2004 Benchmark on HP ProLiant DL785 G6 Server
Oct. 12, 2009 11:11 AM
Today, Oracle announced that Oracle® WebLogic Server, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, together with Oracle Database 11g running on an HP ProLiant DL785 G6 server, achieved a world record single-node result with the SPECjAppServer2004 industry standard benchmark(1).
This result surpasses the best IBM WebSphere SPECjAppServer2004 single node result by nearly 7 times(2).
Oracle WebLogic Server with Oracle Database 11g achieved 9,455.17 SPECjAppServer2004 JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations Per Second). The Java Application Server was running on a HP ProLiant DL785 G6 with a Six-Core AMD Opteron(TM) 8439 SE 2.8 GHz processor and used HP StorageWorks 70 Modular Storage Arrays for external storage and HP ProCurve networking switches for connectivity. Oracle Database 11g was running on an identical hardware configuration. Both the application server and database machines were running the Linux operating system.
With this achievement, Oracle WebLogic Server now holds world record results in multi-node (3), dual-node (4), and single-node SPECjAppServer2004 benchmarks, in addition to delivering the highest performance per core (5) of any result ever published.
For more than five years, Oracle has submitted record-setting application server benchmarks on a broad range of hardware and software platforms. Oracle is the performance and price/performance leader in multiple SPECjAppServer 2001(6) and SPECjAppServer2002(7) benchmark categories and also holds the world records for best performance and price/performance in the Ecperf(8) benchmark of J2EE application servers reported in July 2002.
SPECjAppServer2004 is a multi-tier benchmark for measuring the performance of a representative J2EE application and each of the components that make up the application environment, including hardware, application server software, JVM software, database software, JDBC drivers and the system network.
